Ruby Jewelry is worn for many reasons. Some may very well wear it because the ruby is their birthstone; however there are many other reasons to wear this remarkable gem. Not only is the ruby absolutely beautiful and classy, looking so wonderfully sparkling against gold or silver, it is also thought to be magical and has a simply wonderful history.

For a long time, ruby jewelry has been thought by many to have magical healing powers. This appeals to many people. Ancient civilizations believed in the magic of gems and one wonders if perhaps these powers were someone overlooked as modern medicine took over. If so, it can certainly be implied that just because something was looked over, does not mean that it is not valid.

When it comes to the belief of ruby jewelry having healing powers, this gem specifically has been thought to be able to aid in the healing of blood and anything related to the human heart. Hence the color! However, it should be mentioned that even thought most of us think of a ruby as being pure red, a ruby can range from bright orange to a deep purple-type red. A clear and perfect red is actually not the perfect ruby! The deeper the color, the higher quality ruby jewelry you have; therefore the dark almost purple color ruby will be the one that is most expensive and rare…

Even though I’m not escaping to any distant islands this year, Louis Vuitton has still released some beautiful new bags that will help get me through the dreary winter months.

The new Mini Lin Croisette line was released on November 1 and contains a great selection of handbags and accessories sure to please everyone. The Mini Lin Croisette is a variation of the traditional Mini Lin line, part of the permanent collection; however, for the cruise collection the bags now come in two new colors, red and blue, and are subtly striped.

When I picture red and white stripes I automatically think of candy canes, but not so with these new bags! The bags are trimmed in a gorgeous white pebbled leather. I am very impressed with this new collection and am curious to find out what you think too!

Since the beginning of organized religion, followers have worn symbols of their faith as jewelry, in order to show others what they believe. Christians began wearing a fish as a symbol of their beliefs far before the cross became popular, and Jews have often been seen wearing the Star of David. Other religions wear their icons as well – and all are used as showcases of religious belief. Of course, perhaps the most popular type of religious jewelry is the cross.

A symbol of Jesus’s death and rebirth, Christians wear the cross to remind them of their Lord and Savior as well as to display their religious faith. Crosses have been worn since the early days of Christianity, with the earliest of these pieces being made out of wood and stone materials. As precious metals became more popular, crosses were made out of silver and gold and worn by more wealthy followers of the church. Today, crosses can be found made out of these same materials, and even adorned with gemstones such as diamonds.
Another type of religious jewelry is the Jewish Star of David. A sacred symbol to those who follow Judaism, the Star of David is composed of two triangles nestled together, one right side up and one upside down. The two triangles create a six pointed star, and this is the most recognizable symbol of the Jewish faith. While not as popular as crosses are for Christians, you can still see many Jewish people wearing this symbol as jewelry to represent their faith…

The Jewelry Boutique at the Emmanuel Church Country Fair — being held this year on Saturday, Sept. 15 — is a success story that rivals anything on Wall Street.
What began nine years ago as a tiny corner of the “Flea Market,” has grown to a full-scale boutique of e-Bay proportions. Thanks to variety, value, and unbelievable bargains, word of the boutique has spread quickly. It is now one of the most popular booths at the fair.
At first one display case was enough for the better jewelry. Now there are five. This year, fair-goers will find quality earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings, as well as costume jewelry and everything in between.
The rest of the booth will be devoted to scarves, purses, belts, gloves, sweaters, hats, hand mirrors, perfume bottles, and most surely a few surprises.
A special carton of 10-cent and 25-cent articles is always available for the children, with little bags and boxes for those who are buying gifts…
