Last night’s Elle Style Awards was the latest event warranting a new dress, new shoes and at least a couple of stylists.
First to step on to the red carpet was Kylie, clearly struggling with all the style changes she’s undergone lately. She wore an unflattering olive green maxi dress and a black belt with diamante detail, finishing her, erm interesting look with bright red nail varnish.
Second came Kiera Knightley, who of course pulled her favourite pouty face for the cameras. She finally won an award for her acting in Atonement, winning Best Actress.
Never one to let us down with her minimal yet confident style, Keira wore a cute little black dress and black coat. Hands out of your pockets though please, Keira!
Asked who her style icon was, she answered “I don’t have one”. Just a good stylist then, eh?

Anyone who watches the fashion industry knows that the fashion world is made up of seasonal trends that come and go like the wind. What was hot yesterday may be cold as ice today and what was hot ten seasons ago may be making a surprising comeback. No matter what the latest fashion trends are, you will always be safe investing in a few to complement your wardrobe, but always be sure to stock your closet with safe fashion staples (like the well-tailored trench coat, sexy heels, and little black dress) that will get you through from year to year.
It seems like the world of fashion changes day by day, or more professionally, season by season. For the average onlooker, it may be a confusing thing to try and keep up with what the latest fashion trends are, but it’s really not. Of course there are new fashion trends every year, and within every year designers express their own new point of view based on these trends. No matter what the latest fashion trends are, there is no need to worry as long as you have some of the basic fashion staples in your closet to go along with those trends.
For the beginning of 2008 it is a completely “out with the old and in with the new,” as it is said by every fashion editor every year. However, fashion does recycle itself, with slight variations. This year, we can expect trends to focus on fit and quality rather than name-brands. You will want to look your best and that does not mean spending thousands of dollars to do so. Such items as pencil skirts (knee length or longer), hats, clutches, and feminine dressing will be in. Accessories such as thin belts and head scarves will also be all the rage. Colors such as lavender, green, and orange will be in with silver being the new neutral of choice. Things to avoid in 2008 will include things like peasant skirts, jersey knits, babydoll dresses, excessive black, super short skirts, and wicker shoes.

What is celebrity fashion? Well, this not new and we on each and every day do come across several events that are associated with this very notion. Now, celebrity fashion happens to be something that we all pay attention to, whether we have the ability to realize it or not. We all check out the magazines at the nearby stores or even the different websites on the internet and we all take notice of what is in the windows of our favorite clothing stores in the malls and what models and celebrities are wearing on television. It is to be noted, that this notion of celebrity fashion in the best manner does pave the way for every day people towards the development of a style all their own, and even to stay on top of the trends. Now the question is can we ever become able to follow their examples at best? The answer is no. Reason? Though the style does change in every decade, but in this case our role model as been constant! Justin Timberlake could actually be bringing sexy back with the news that the singer has just signed a deal with the founders of J. Lindeberg to launch a range of womenswear, courtesy of a new sportswear line under his label William Rast.
JT, along with his business partner Trace Ayala, have teamed up with Paris68, the Lindebergs’ New York-based independent design consultancy.
“I have always admired the modern designs and sophisticated aesthetics of Johan and Marcella Lindeberg”
said Justin.
“I am really excited that we have the chance to develop these strong collections together and that my vision for a complete William Rast lifestyle brand is in the hands of two of my most favourite designers,”
he added.
Although William Rast already stocks a womens’ jeans range, the label is still chiefly known for its menswear collections. The new womenswear range will incorporate a “sexy tomboy attitude,” featuring intricately constructed T-shirts, tailored jackets, high-waisted skirts and fitted trousers…

Even though I’m not escaping to any distant islands this year, Louis Vuitton has still released some beautiful new bags that will help get me through the dreary winter months.
The new Mini Lin Croisette line was released on November 1 and contains a great selection of handbags and accessories sure to please everyone. The Mini Lin Croisette is a variation of the traditional Mini Lin line, part of the permanent collection; however, for the cruise collection the bags now come in two new colors, red and blue, and are subtly striped.
When I picture red and white stripes I automatically think of candy canes, but not so with these new bags! The bags are trimmed in a gorgeous white pebbled leather. I am very impressed with this new collection and am curious to find out what you think too!
